She managed 2.5 days before I got the dreaded call again at lunchtime today (5 minutes after putting my boys down for a nap. Naturally.) She was incredibly hot (begs the question why did she still have her cardi on when I got there?!) and was getting rather tearful. She was the third child to be sent home, some were in their second dose of the latest high temperature, possibly vomitting, bug doing the rounds.
Needless to say this time she seems to be worse off, sleeping most of the afternoon on the sofa and going to bed same time as her younger brothers. She was however completely mortified when I broke the news she won't be able to hand out her birthday sweets at school tomorrow. And that leads me on to my first reason to be cheerful this week...
1) Little Miss is turning 5 Saturday! A bit of a mixture of feelings. Firstly, I've exclaimed many a time already this week that 'I can't believe it's been 5 years' and 'this time 5 years ago I was ...' and finally, 'it doesn't seem possible.' Clearly it is and she will be turning 5. Now I realise her illness, as mentioned above, could jepodise party plans (god forbid I be saved from the soft play party hell!), but all being well it should be a lovely weekend.
2) My parents and sister are coming for the night at the weekend :-) Actually my parents are booked in at the Premier Inn down the road (their choice!).
3) I did my first review this week. Read it here: http://www.discontentedmother.blogspot.com/2012/03/looking-for-perfect-gift-for-little.html?m=1
Very exciting opportunity and I hope the first of many.
Off to bed now I think for fear I may be up to mop sick. Let's hope not!

I have had 3 off with the same sounding thing over the week. A real tie and they manage to look so weak and young when they are poorly!Hope the birthday party goes well, I just booked one of those today too for a fortnight!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be going round and some are getting it twice- joy! Hope yours are all recovered!
DeleteYour kids look gorgeous: I hope they are better soon, especially in time for the party. Personally I'd pick soft play party over 6 months of finding popcorn in improbably places at home any day! Happy birthday to your lovely girl :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think so but I am biased! Lol! You are right, soft play is preferable to an at home party where you just have to sit back and watch the sausage rolls being trodden into the floor! Someone always outstays their welcome too and I end up wondering if it's considered rude to get the Hoover out!!
DeleteHope your little girl feels better in time for her party!! Happy Birthday in advance to her!
ReplyDeleteThank you. She seems perkier today.
DeleteHope your little one feels much better very soon so she can enjoy her borthday! I have also just done my first review so they're is something to be cherrful about for me too! Hope you get some sleep and have a good weekend! x
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'll pop over and read your review!
DeleteAww, bless her! Ill coming up to her birthday weekend must be a travesty at 5! Hope the weekend goes well!
ReplyDeleteThank you. No vomit today (had a little in the night) so everything is crossed for tomorrow!
Deleteoo congrats on first review! my little boy turned 5 last august, can't quite believe its been 5 years either! hope she's well enough for the big party. x
ReplyDeleteMy husband said 'in another five years she'll be ten'. Noooooooo!!!! Thank you. I hope she will be well enough.
DeleteI think my little boy has the same thing as your daughter. I like you a lot - that reference to soft play hell clinched it
ReplyDeleteLol!! At least the kids like it I suppose and like Looking for Blue Sky said, it's better than having it at home I suppose!! Hope your boy is better soon. Seems to be a lot around.
DeleteI hope your little one is much better now and she had a lovey birthday. Mich x
ReplyDeleteAwww... I'm sorry Little Miss is sick! And right around her birthday, too. That sucks, man. You know, don't stress too much about the party plans. They do NOT remember that their birthday parties were shifted to some other date, let alone the reasons why.
ReplyDeleteIF, of course, you end up having to reschedule (or endED up... was the party Saturday yesterday?). How's she feeling now?
Great post. Thanks for sharing your week with us =)
