One Born Every Minute #rulebreakers

Just watching this week's OBEM. Am I a rulebreaker when it comes do giving birth? I'd have to say no. Do I think it is a good idea to be? For me, no, I don't.

I understand why some people put their foot down especially if they have had a bad experience in a previous labour which they put down to being forced into decisions they weren't happy with. In my experience though I think it was not in the best interests of my babies to break the rules and demand anything different to what was advised.

That being said I kind of broke the rules when I had my twins. It was assumed by pretty much everyone that they'd make their entrance via the sunroof! Even a midwife a couple of weeks before more or less said I was mad to be giving birth vaginally! The consultants however advised this providing 'twin 1' was head down, which he was. I was of course scared of having one vaginally and then having to have a section and I'm not sure how this would have made me feel to be honest. Luckily though 'twin 2' was in a hurry!!! Now that's a rule breaking experience I am proud of!!

One Born Every Minute is on Channel 4 at 9pm on Wednesdays.
